Message to the community

From Mohamad Khraizat, Director, Regional Alliance for Healthy Schools

As the summer comes to a close and we begin another exciting school year, I want to take a moment to highlight an important aspect of your child’s health and well-being: childhood immunizations. Immunizations are a critical component of preventive health care, safeguarding our children and teens against serious and potentially life-threatening diseases. Now is the perfect time to get caught up and ensure that your child is up-to-date on all recommended immunizations.

Here’s why staying current on immunizations is so important:

  • Protecting Your Child: Vaccines are one of the safest and most effective ways to protect your child from illnesses such as measles, mumps, whooping cough, and more. Immunizations help your child stay healthy, allowing them to focus on learning and growing.
  • Protecting Our Community: When children are vaccinated, it not only protects them but also helps safeguard others in the community, especially those who are unable to be vaccinated due to medical reasons. This collective protection, known as herd immunity, is crucial in preventing outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases.
  • Meeting School Requirements: Many schools require proof of up-to-date immunizations before students can attend. Ensuring your child is fully vaccinated will help avoid any disruptions to their education.
  • To help you get your child ready for the new school year, RAHS offers convenient, accessible immunization services. Our team of healthcare professionals is here to answer any questions you may have and to provide the necessary vaccinations to keep your child healthy and protected.

    We encourage you to:

  • Schedule an Appointment: Reach out to your RAHS healthcare provider or visit one of our RAHS school-based health centers to schedule your child’s immunizations as soon as possible.
  • Keep a Record: Make sure to keep an up-to-date record of your child’s vaccinations and share it with your child’s school.
  • Stay Informed: If you have any concerns or questions about vaccines, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’re here to provide you with accurate information and support.

  • Let’s work together to create a healthy, safe, and thriving environment for all our youth and adolescents. Thank you for your continued commitment to your child’s health and well-being. We look forward to seeing your child back in school, ready to learn and succeed!
